Evan is 9 months

My sweet baby boy is 9 months.

He's all over the place, crawling and cruising his way into mischief. He eats anything in sight and is seemingly hungry all the time. We're going to grow broke by the time our boys are teenagers. I can only imagine the food we'll be going through...

He's my buddy. He's a little booger. And I love 'im.

Evan is 7 months

It's been a trite long while since I've picked up my beloved SLR. I miss it. I miss it a lot. Along with my 22.5 lbs, 30" long 7-month-old I have to carry, the gear I have to schlep around is another 50 lbs and counting. My bags (and my back!) just can't handle my Canon. There have been so many moments, so many pictures I've ached to take and my trusty old point-and-shoot just doesn't do the trick. Well, it's been taking pictures OK, but the pictures are just OK.

So, I dusted Canon off this week. She and I have re-connected just a bit. I did take Evan's 6-month pictures, but all I did was load them on my computer and I don't think I've even looked through them *choke* *gasp* *sniff*.

My older two cause my head to spin and I locked them up in their rooms yesterday and demanded they take a nap. Well, not really. But I was a hair shy of doing a nappy dance (no pun intended...) before Ethan drifted off to dreamland and Mallory just stayed quiet. Me, Evan and Canon had some time together. And I've been learning some new PSP tricks (that's Paint Shop Pro; I'm boycotting Photoshop...for no particular reason). I've had lots of fun in my spare time. Wait, did I just say spare time????

Evan is a sugary, sweet little boy.

Coy, too.

Which rhymes with boy.

And he likes to play with toys.

He's pure joy.

Okay, enough of that.

He sucks on his bottom lip quite often as if he's wishing he had his pacifier in his mouth.

He looks at me like this when he wants to be picked up. Or, at least that's what I think he's asking me with those big brown cow eyes of his. Because whenever he does look at me like this, I pick him up. And kiss his squishy cheeks.

And then I melt.

The Party

We had a great time at Ethan's birthday party a few weeks ago. I had asked a friend of mine to take pictures for E's party, and pictures he took! About 1200+! It's taken me a while to go through them and put finishing touches on them, so please forgive me for the delay.

We had a hay search (inside the hay were letters with candy taped on them), personal pizza's with each child's initial outlined with pepperoni, chili and fixin's for the adults, and a deliche chocolate cake shaped as an uppercase E and a yellow caked shaped as a lower case e. I couldn't have pulled it off without the help of my mom and mother-in-law and almost everything turned out just like I had hoped. It was such, such fun.

My boy is one!

It was about this time last year when I held my baby boy in my arms for the first time. I love him so much...more than I did in those first moments when I thought my heart would explode with love for him. Happy Birthday, buddy. You're such a delight to me!

Ethan is 11 months

Ethan turned 11 months old while we were on our trip. I just got around to taking his pics and I just can't get over how much he's grown in the last few weeks. He's such a sweet boy and I'm so very thankful for him. Only 3 more weeks until I have a 1 year old!!!

Ethan's first haircut

Ethan was looking pretty motley when we headed down to FL, so I gave him a haircut on Friday. He looks like a little man. Since the "after" pics taken, I had to make some corrections to some of my uneven clippings. I was pleased with my first attempt to do an all-over-the-head trimming!

Ethan is 10 months!

I took all of E's 10 month pictures before I left for FL and am just now getting around to posting them. For those of you who don't know yet, I weaned Ethan about 2 weeks ago and we're both used to our new routine. There are times when I miss nursing, but for the most part, it's SO nice to NOT be nursing. Anyway, he's a mighty big boy and lives up to the meaning of his name: strong and impetuous one.

Love ya, buddy-roe!

Pee Pee in the Potty?

For the last 2 days, Mallory has been sitting on the potty trying to do her best to put something in there. On two different occasions, she sat on the pot for 45 minutes, without complaining (for the most part) and just "missing" the pot. The first time (yesterday before naptime), she told me she needed to go "icky poo poo" and I stuck her on the pot before she could go in her diaper. She sat on that pot for 45 min and downed a whole cup of juice while sitting there. Then she started complaining a lot, because I KNEW she had to go. In her frustration, a little nugget passed into the pot, to which I got wildly excited and immediately gave her a treat. I knew she needed to go more, but she started complaining so badly (screaming uncontrollably is more like it). I didn't want her to conjure up distain for the miniature pot, so I went ahead and put her diaper back on, and she immediately went. She then sat on the pot and asked for her treat. The second time (this morning after she woke up with a dry diaper), she sat on the pot for another 45 minutes, stood up, peed on the floor, sat back down and asked for her treat.

Anyway, she's wearing "special diapies", as we call them around here (AKA pull ups), and I'm hoping that she'll eventually put all the pieces together and realize it's a good thing when she uses the potty. I made her a chart for her to put stickers on when she finally does pee. And the fruit snacks (her treat of choice) are waiting to be eaten.

A little cheer

I don't mean to be all gloomy in my last 2 posts, but I wanted to just share my thoughts over my loved ones.

But to add some cheer, my in-laws are in town through the weekend to watch our little E-man be dedicated to the Lord this Sunday. We're very excited about this little ceremony and are looking forward to making a public committment regarding our call to show Jesus to our son.

And by the way, E went the pediatrician today and we found out that he's 27 lbs and 31 inches long. Not quite off the charts, but close. Very close.
