We took Ethan to the Pediatrician today for his 8 week well visit and found out that he was a whopping 16.3 lbs (98th %) and 25.5 inches long (97th %), which is about the size of a 5-month old. The doc was impressed. :-) And I think we can cut out his 3am feeding!!! Now, if Ethan can just get on board with that...

You DO have a big boy! I think Alison was 14.10 at her 8 week check-up, she was in the 95% for the longest time! I'm surprised your pedi said to cut out the night time feeding. He's seems to young for that! He's growing like a weed, obviously he needs it!I remember nursing Alison whenever she woke up at night until she was steadily sleeping through. Probably around 6 months of age. Even then on the rare occasion that she woke up I'd just nurse her for 5 minutes and she's be back in la-la land! Gotta love the boob! You are doing a great job! You must be bessie the cow like I was!
Lisa - my ped didn't tell me to cut out the 3am feeding, though he's not opposed to it. It's just part of the "babywise" pricipal of "extended night", which should occur around 8/9 wks. Mallory was sleeping eight hours in a row by this age and I was hoping E would be the same. My goal now is to have him sleeping from 12am - 6am by 12 wks. I think he'll be able to do it. Anyway, I'm ready for more sleep! :-)
