OKLAHOMA!

This post is in honor of my mom's debut in the Elberton Community Theatre's rendition of OKLAHOMA! tonight at the Elbert Theatre. She'll be playing Aunt Eller and she's really excited to be in 6 showings of the play over the next 2 weekends. Here's the write-up in their local newspaper.

For those of you who don't know, my parents knew each other in middle school and then started dating in high school. But, it was on the set of OKLAHOMA! in their senior year of high school where they finally fell in love. Soon after graduation, they married. Mom played Laurey and Dad was in the company. Anyway, there's a lot of history with this musical and my folks. I guess I can say OKLAHOMA! is a little part of my being, too.

Anyway, good luck, mom! I can't wait to see you next weekend!!!

A&T - Bob, Gail, Lynne and Gary are driving up today to see mom in the play tonight. I thought it was really cool that they're doing that for mom; and Bob and Lynne get to see their brother. Mom told me yesterday that Bob saw them in the play 36 years ago...

Dad saw the play last night and will get to see it again with his siblings. Cool!

Miss you guys...hope to see you soon!

A couple things to add... I think Dad will probably see the show SEVERAL times.... Aunt Donna is driving over to see it, on Sunday I think.

And in the vein of OKLAHOMA! quotes, I was watching the NFL draft with David last weekend, and I heard Chris Berman say, "Everything's up to date in Kansas City..." but he didn't add the "...they've gone about as fur as they can go. I was chatting with Dad about whether or not he know that line was from OKLAHOMA! or if he just thought it was a saying. haha!

David and I get to see the show next Friday! David's never seen the show, knows almost nothing about the story, he's in for a treat, I hope. YOW!

Just read the comments of a few days ago - how cool that they all came up! Have you heard how it went?

There is definitely a story with all this that needs to go into the local paper there in Elberton! I hope someone covers it...

We miss you all, too! Looking forward to next summer's reunion! Did I hear that we cousins are doing the planning this time?
